Fall SEPAC Meeting October 20, 2009
Attendees: Wendy Feddersen, April Burns, Pam DeGregorio and other interested parties.
The meeting opened with an invitation by the Nashoba SPED to a presentation by State Rep. Jennifer Benson concerning Legislative and Funding Issues.
In addition, a flier with information on an upcoming soccer program was explained to the group.
Special Education Director, Pam DeGregorio, presented current initiatives in Special Education and the history behind them.
The Director explained that she began to restructure many of the Special Education Departments based on trends, Special Education Task Force recommendations, and the Harvard Public School independent audit of the Special Education program.
The restructuring focused on areas that would best help meet the needs of all concerned.
Some of the initiatives include the development of teams, new technologies, confidentiality policy changes, a preschool transition program, an assessment center at The Bromfield School, staff changes, and restructuring the Psych. Department.
Pam DeGregorio reviewed previous the presentations of Elizabeth Egan, Joan Lyons and Cheryl Temple in order to update the group on current programs being implemented in each level of education in Harvard.
The meeting concluded as Pam DeGregorio answered questions from the group and those in attendance were invited to bring forth any ideas for future SEPAC events.
